Alessandro Santoro graduated from the University of Milan in 1994, took a Master of Science in Economics at the University of York in 1997 and a PhD in Economics at the Catholic University of Milan in 2001.
Since 2012 he is associate professor of public finance at the University of Milan-Bicocca, where he teaches Public Finance and Public Economics. His main research topics are taxation, tax compliance and inequality (click here for a complete list).
He has worked as a consultant for tax policies for the Italian government from 1999 to 2004, from 2006 to 2008 and from 2014 to 2016. He has been a member of the steering committee of the Italian Revenue Agency from 2016 to 2019.
